Lubbenhusen and several friends gather at an event put on by the Hero’s Foundation, a fund raiser for cancer.

Team rider, Michael Lubbenhusen, is in his fourth year as a member of Eskenazi Health’s cycling team. Lubbenhusen has participated in Ride Across Indiana (RAIN), an event sponsored by Bloomington Bicycle Club, for six years.

As a cyclist, one of Lubbenhusen’s favorite training rides is Morgan-Monroe State Forrest located in Morgan and Monroe Counties in Indiana. Lubbenhusen said he rides in the Ride to Remember event each year to honor Dr. Greg Gramelspacher of Eskenazi Health and his patients in the Palliative Care Program at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Lubbenhusen’s favorite cycling quote is “The bicycle is a curious vehicle. Its passenger is it’s engine.

When asked about his favorite cycling memory, Lubbenhusen said. “A good ride is almost always about the folks you ride with.”

The sixth Annual Ride to Remember to honor Eskenazi Health Palliative Care patients that have passed away in the last year will take place on July 11.
